Cypress House Ranch Bed and Breakfast is located on County Road 631 C Bushnell right off of the Scenic Sumter Byway and slightly North of the Florida National Cemetery. Built in the 1990 as a family style log home, it was opened as B&B in 1996. The current owners, Michael and Amy Griffing, bought the Cypress House in 2013 and have continued the B&B while also operating a riding stable. The 2 story B&B is on 10 plus acers of quiet paved road where a guest can step back from the hectic pace and relax for a while. Offering 4 units, swimming pool, covered pavilion, fire pit area, and plenty of places to sit back and watch the animals, Michael and Amy host you in a laid back country atmosphere where town is just a 10 minute drive on the byway. Amy worked for the former owner of Cypress House starting the summer of 2006, first as a part time Wrangler in the barn, and then full time. Having worked with horses for 35 plus years, and for several other B&B type facilities, Amy knew this was a chance to own her own facility when the opportunity presented itself. Most of the outdoor upkeep, the horses, and the day to day operations of the ranch fall under her care. Michael is veteran from the U.S. Air Force, and tends to the house duties of meeting the guests and being available to answer questions about local activities available for guests to enjoy. He rather” got thrown to the wolves” in the ownership of the property, but is a good sport about supporting Amy in her endeavor to make Cypress House all they can. Michael and Amy have spent the last 3 years refurbishing both the grounds and the home for the comfort of their guests, and have more plans in the works for added amenities. Cypress House Ranch offers a quiet place to stay with rooms fit for a couple or families (ages 5 and up please),or you can rent out all the available rooms, 14 people max, and host your family reunion without the worry of enough space for the whole gang. Offering a continental style buffet breakfast, each room is equipped with a microwave and a small refrigerator, table and chairs, great views of the property, and movie selection (located in the main house). Guests staying also may use at their leisure all common areas: a 30x50 covered pavilion, an outdoor screened pool, fire pit area with grill top, dining room, a sitting area in the main house and a large expanse of lawns with swings and sitting areas. The pavilion offers tables, restrooms, and some basic utensils for grilling, and an assortment of outdoor games for use. We also offer Wedding services, from a one day package to a two night weekend, full day private use of the grounds and common areas. Also available are separate activities with the horses. Lessons, boarding, trail rides, mini-camps and of course just admiring the animals are all possible. These activities are all offered for both guests staying at the ranch or as a separate activity to the public. Lessons start at one hour and can cover from the basics of ownership to an experienced rider looking to check for bad habits or improvement with their horse. Boarding is offered as partial board, board for use, or full board. Trail rides are a two (2) hour ride in the Withalachoochee Forest where we are a Permitted Vendor and insured. Groups are private party, no more than 5 riders, with an occasional private owner or boarder joining. The mini-camps are for a group of 4-6 people and are a pre-paid package that includes 4 hours of activities for each night of stay. Sumter County , while offering the atmosphere of a small town , still offers many activities. Everything from a hike in the woods to a shopping extravaganza within a short drive down a beautiful byway is at your choosing. Cypress House Ranch B&B is proud to be located in a rural county that has so much to offer. We will continue to offer our guests a chance to unwind with a relaxing home style stay for a weekend get-a-way, overnights for the Veteran’s families using the National Cemetery, and of course for the big events in life such as weddings and family reunions. We are proud to have continually received the Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor for all years we have been listed, so check out all of our 5 star reviews.
Fire Pit Area
Bring your favorite treats to enjoy at the wood burning fire pit (has grill top), or enjoy a relaxing dinner at a local diner. Then sit back and watch the horses play in the pastures at night as the frogs and crickets sing into the evening.
